Scott Lindsey did not have to travel far from where he was raised to get to Nashville. Beaver Dam, KY is in the same county where Bluegrass legend Bill Monroe originates and Scott was raised just down a country road from Merle Travis’s hometown. That’s fertile ground for a budding singer/songwriter. Scott has a very classic sound and his music creates a journey to take your heart and soul down memory lane. Country music that is good speaks for itself and Scott has found a way to make his tunes speak loud and clear.

I took some time to visit with Scott about his current single which is burning up the airwaves and to talk with him about his CD project underway.

Interview: Lindsay Lawler

INTERVIEW: Lindsay Lawler

Lindsay Lawler won me over in the first few seconds of being in the room with her. There was a warm and embracing personality that immediately draws you to her and her excitement about her music fills the room.

Ms. Lawler began performing very young throughout the South, although not always in the country genre. Her career began in the church not so different than many young singers; but found herself front and center of a rock and roll band that recorded and toured the Southwest. After graduation, Lawler packed up and moved out West to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of being on stage. Quickly she joined the band Ciattic as the lead singer and packed houses all along the Sunset Strip. Lawler never ceased to amaze audiences with her powerful vocals and stellar stage presence at the likes of the famous Whisky-A-Go-Go, Viper Room and The Roxy.

The young and charismatic singer / songwriter is currently living in Nashville, TN and writing with some of Nashville’s most prominent writers, recording, and performing full-time. She can be seen on stage at the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge on Broadway weekly. We enjoyed taking time to visit about what brought her to Nashville and what her dreams are.

Interview: Ray Stevens "We the People"

It’s been written that the recent song and video by Grammy Award winner Ray Stevens, could be the official anthem of the Tea Party Movement. Stevens is well known as being a comedian, songwriter and patriot has created “We the People”, a hilarious country-western blast at Obamacare.

“We the People” is about Obamacare and the health-care reform bills that have passed both houses of Congress.

The lyrics express a comic, but pointed warning to members of Congress: “You vote Obamacare, we’re going to vote you out of there. We the People have awakened to your tricks. You vote to let this pass, you’re going to be out on your (sound of foghorn).”

I took some time to visit with Ray about the song, his career and what is next for him.

Thursday morning may have been gloomy and wet on the streets of Nashville, but the atmosphere inside the Grand Ole Opry was nothing but, as Garth Brooks held the first of two press conferences to announce he is coming out of retirement. Most of those invited were met at the door and welcomed personally by Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood. Those in attendance at the press conference joined the industry icon on the stage of the infamous venue as he beamed with anxious nervousness about his announcement.

Darius Rucker for 'Alright'

darius ruckerDarius Rucker and co-writer Frank Rogers recently took a little time out to visit with media during the #1 celebration for "Alright", Rucker’s third straight #1 hit song off of his current project. Members of the media were invited to a private Q & A session prior to the awards presentation at ASCAP on August 25th.

Q. I would like to know a little more about the hospitalization stories that revolve around this song.

DR: [laughs] We started to write the song, the first verse, and I wasn’t feeling good and went to the hospital to find out I had an infection that started in my knee. Then with the second verse we had my neighbor’s and their kids over. We have this big fish tank and I was in the other room and I heard a loud crash. My neighbor’s kid had pulled the fish tank over and it landed on her face. It’s crazy that every time we get together some disaster happens. This song took two disasters for us to write it.
