At 22 years of age, Kyle Dessent is on his way towards a very successful career in pop/rock and country music. His recent success as a Grand Finalists in the Telstra Road To Tamworth 2009 Competition has attracted much attention from audiences to industry representatives alike, including Gayle Madill from Country Update Magazine who awarded him a 9 /10 for stage presence.
Since the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January this year, Kyle has had the honour of working with Award Winning Nashville Songwriters Karin Paparelli and Bill DiLuigi, received guitar instruction from Grammy Nominated, world class Memphis guitarist Gary Talley, and vocal tuition from the prestigious Renee Grant-Williams.
Kyle is currently recording his debut original album independently, with the help and guidance of good friend and mentor, David Clarke. Influenced by a broad spectrum of musical styles, the album will reflect Kyle's eclectic taste in Country, Pop, Rock, Blues & a little bit of Jazz, and is due for release in April 2009.
Previously Kyle has recorded as part of the acoustic duo "Kick A Jam Doughnut", as a solo cover artist and as front man for Perth-based pop/rock band "Queen Aphasia". He has toured through 5 of the Australian States, performed live on Channel 7, Access 31 and Aurora Community Channel, at numerous Perth Wildcats home games and Pride WA's Fairday 2008, and at venues such as Burswood Theatre, Perth's Exhibition Convention Centre, Russell Square, Challenge Stadium, Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre and more!!
From a young age Kyle's vocal chords were oscillating, in early Primary School he would grace the classroom with a weekly show and tell of Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart". He would sing in the shower, on the bus, on the playground and in the school choir. A choir which he was later dismissed from in 1999 because his voice was "too deep for a primary school choir". Somewhat deterred from public singing, Kyle returned to the stage when high-school girlfriend, Kel Mitchell, requested that he become her duets partner in a musical theatre production, and faith in the young men's vocal ability was restored.
"I would like to thank everyone who has provided me with support and guidance over the years, and all those that continue to support and guide me today. Without you all I would not be where I am right now. My fans, my friends, and especially my family, I love you all so much and am forever grateful for the confidence and happiness you have brought me."
